Marvel Comics: Sub-Mariner - The Depths #1 ( of 5 )

Writer Peter Milligan and artist Esad Ribic bring us an interesting tale that I’m assuming takes place sometime in the recent past concerning the existence of Atlantis and Namor, the Sub-Mariner.

Okay, after several weeks of chaos in my life (i.e. roadtrips and family visits) I can finally get back to doing my normal type of reviews….
Marvel/Icon: Kick-Ass #4

Writer Mark Millar and artist John Romita, Jr. just keep the “kick-assery” coming with the fourth issue of this highly entertaining and gloriously violent book.

Okay, I currently have a house full of nieces, a brother-in-law and a sister-in-law so this will be short and sweet. A review of a Marvel trade collecting The Defenders: Indefensible 5 issue mini-series—
Very funny with some of the most expressive art ever!
Until next time–Peace…

Marvel Comics: The Invincible Iron Man #4

I’m loving this freakin’ series and I’ve never been a big Iron Man fan but writer Matt Fraction and artist Salvador Larocca are delivering the goods. The character is currently dealing with Zachariah Stane, evil son of his rival Obadiah Stane (Iron Monger), who is using Stark tech for terrorist attacks across the world. What makes this series and particularly this issue work is the writer is making Stark into a likable (albeit cocky) character once again. I dig! Grade: A

Vertigo Comics: Northlanders #8

This is one of the best Vertigo books to come out in years and this issue wraps up the storyline of the Viking, Sven, and his return to his homeland to reclaim his kingdom.

Writer Simon Oliver and artist Tony Moore end this fantastic, creepy and funny series and I will miss it. The characters were so well done, especially Stretch, and the storyline was unique and always held my interest. This issue wraps the story of the battle between the the Bug-Bee-Gone gang and the Mayan insect god Khepron with in-your-face action and gore. It's f#cking great!!! Farewell Exterminators! Grade: A+
I personally think that Conan is one of the greatest characters ever created. He's a man's man. Able to handle any situation that comes up and will take all of the abuse his opponent can dish out all the while holding up his head defiantly while he holds a battle axe in one hand and a lusty wench with the other.
This is the eighth trade paperback covering the chronicles of Hellboy and this one is one of the best.
I actually considered bailing on this title since writer Joss Whedon and artist John Cassaday concluded their epic 24 issue run. I figured that the book was their baby, their vision and that someone else coming on this title would make it feel totally different. Well, it does...but that's not a bad thing.
Writer Geoff Johns and artist Ivan (this mofo can draw!!) Reis continue their retelling of Green Lantern Hal Jordan's origin in part 4 of this tale.
Written by Mark Millar (Ultimates, Civil War) with art by Steve McNiven ...
Anybody who has read these posts in the past know that I'm a Hulk geek. I just can't get enough of the green guy whether it's an all out smash fest or we are delving into the psychology that is Banner/Hulk.
Written by Brian Michael Bendis with art by Butch Guice, this is the first issue of the mini-series that promises to show us that everything in Marvel's Ultimate Universe is connected. This is a decent issue.
This is the conclusion to writer Joss Whedon's and artist John Cassaday's epic run on this title and this issue definitely rocks but has some problems as well.
This is a prelude to the upcoming Final Crisis mini-series and features the big villain of that storyline, Libra. The second half of this issue is good and art by Carlos Pacheco makes me hope that he is on this book permanently...but he's probably not. Grade: B
