That simply must be what the executives out in Hollyweird are thinking whenever the idea to remake an 80’s movie/concept enters their conscientiousness.  We’ve been down this road before people.  I simply don’t know what else to say to you guys other than maybe "STOP GOING TO SEE THESE HORRIBLE CREATIONS".  If we stick together everyone then maybe, just maybe these ridiculous ideas to go and rehash everything that was good about the 80’s will finally come to an end.

Yeah I know…I won’t hold my breath.

5 Upcoming Remakes of 80s Movies (That Must be Stopped)

Me again, long time no hear from I know but I have had my hands full with other things you know?

First, let me congratulate Chris on getting one of his comic reviews published on the back of this year’s hottest comic out there – Kick Ass.  Every week he’s on here busting his butt to bring you guys the best the ink and paper world has to offer,not to mention most weeks while I’m out creating new territories on the net for ATE, he’s here keeping this ship a float.

Alright enough ass kissing, back to the matter at hand.

Suspension of Disbelief is described as:

an aesthetic theory intended to characterize people’s relationships to art.  According to the theory, suspension of disbelief is a quid pro quo: the audience tacitly agrees to provisionally suspend their judgment in exchange for the promise of entertainment.

The reason that I bring something like this up is that when we as moviegoers go out to the theatre to watch whatever it is we just have to refinance our homes to see, there is usually a certain amount of disbelief that the common person is willing to suspend.  Now when the said movie goer is someone like the people that hang around the offices here, we might not be willing to go quite as far.  Take for instance one of this year’s newest edition to "gun-porn" Wanted.   While watching this flick, I let go of the fact that the characters in the film were basically telling the laws of physics to go fuck themselves, but answer me this one question.  Where the hell were the cops during all of this?  Why wasn’t there a man hunt going on for Wesley Gibson and Co. because of all the bodies they left in there path?  And what pre tell does all of this have to do with today’s BOM?

Well I said all of that to lead you into the idea that if you stop and think about it for a minute and cease your disbelief suspension for a sec, most of the heroes of the movies that we love are all guilty of murder on a grand scale.

6 Action Great Action Heroes That Should Be Convicted of Murder.

Ok let’s get this out of the way, I am not a Superman fan.

Don’t get me wrong, I can appreciate Superman as an icon in the realm of pop culture.  I can also appreciate the era in which he was made and why it was that we needed a character like that to rally behind and cheer for.  Hell I even had Superman under-roos when I was a kid.  But now that I’m older I find myself wondering why it is that here lately, when it comes to the superhero movies that are all the rage in Hollywood, why do the ones based on the Man of Steel seem to either suck out right or leave a lot to be desired?

After giving it some thought, I decided that it wasn’t necessarily the bad acting or poor choice of casting in the latest flick, as it was a fundamental flaw in the last son of Krypton’s design.  If you stop and think about it, Superman might as well be a god that wears a cape and swoops down to save us when we call him.  It’s almost as if his creators said "hey I got a great idea for a comic, let’s essentially put Jesus in tights and let him save the day in a modern day setting."

You for me, I don’t mind if the hero that I’m reading/watching is supposed to be nigh indestructible, but that is usually followed up by either some plausible character flaw or the fact that while as part of the audience, we realize that while no real harm will come to the character, the character themselves is usually un aware of this fact.

Now I know that there are tons of diehard Kal-El fans that would disagree with anyone having a problem with their favorite character, but I think there are just as many of us out there that do have a problem with the blue boy scout.

Why Superman will Always Suck.

Admit it, you would so watch a movie that contained all these characters.

And that’s part of the problem people.

Now before you guys get all upset, understand that ATE is run by comic book movie lovers. But be that as it may, let’s just be honest: all comic movies pretty much follow the same guideline/formula for success/failure.  And as long as we’re willing to take out a small personal loan to go to our local theatres, Hollywood ain’t in no mood to change things.

8 Pointless Rules all Comic Book Movies follow

This year we are going to get treated to several more movie adaptations of comic books.  For those of you out there that haven’t been paying attention, two of those movies that will be released this year will be Iron Man and The Incredible Hulk.

For those of you that visit the site regularly (thank you), you know that CpC and myself have been trying to keep everyone abreast of the happenings of these two particular films.  While the Iron Man movie has the potential to launch what I’m sure Hollywood is banking on; a well done, fun to watch movie franchise that they can milk to death and run into the ground,  the new Hulk movie will try to rectify the awful Hulk movie that came before it, as well as launch a new franchise that can be milked to death.

Now me personally, I’m looking forward to the new Iron Man movie due out in a few weeks. (May 2nd) However, the Hulk movie on the other hand leaves something to be desired as far as I’m concerned.  While it’s true that I was never that much of a fan of either superhero, based on the trailers of said films, my money’s on Mr. Stark.

The Real Reason Iron Man Will Crush The Hulk At The Box Office

So the other day I was bored.  For those of you that don’t truly know me allow me to say that if by chance I happen to be:

• bored
• hungry
• and idle

this will not end well.

Like I said I was bored.  I had caught up on all my real work and was waiting for the opportunity to go home.  Unfortunately I was stuck at real work for a while longer, so I decided to run and get lunch and pick up a movie to watch during my down time.  The flick that I had decided upon was Resident Evil: Extinction. 

For those not familiar with the Resident Evil movies, then go here to get caught up. 

Now personally I didn’t think that the first two movies were all that bad.  Considering that throughout my thirty years on this planet, I’ve managed to see my fair share of crappy movies, the Resident Evil franchise is much better than some game to film adaptations.  Couple that with the fact that the movie stars Milla Jovovich, who;

1. apparently is required by law to somehow appear nude for no reason in almost every movie I’ve seen her in, and
2. is probably the thinnest, small breasted woman I find to be incredibly sexy

I end up with at least an endurable viewing experience.

However that’s not what I got with Resident Evil: Extinction.  It’s not the movie is bad per say, it’s just not good.  I mean I can appreciate the way the film makers wanted to basically fuse the idea of RE with the Road Warrior, but what does that have to do with the games the film franchise is based?

So that got me to thinking – why is it that almost every movie based on a video game seem to suck harder than an Emperor’s Club, $4300 and hour escort?

I came to the conclusion that I needed to do some hard, fact finding research so that I could then write a piece that could at least in some regard explain the phenomena that is video game movie crap.  But after the realization that that would take time and effort that I wasn’t willing to take away from Rock Band, I decided the next best thing to do was find other writers that had done all my work for me and post them here in BOM.

Hey at least I’m honest about it.

Last year I brought you guys a video that had comedian Zach Galifianakis redoing Kanye West’s video for the song Can’t Tell Me Nothing.  It’s not really what you would call a cover of a song but it was entertaining none the less.

Now usually when someone thinks of a cover song, the song is normally done I the same style as the way the original artist performed it.  However there are times when the cover artist decides to interpret the song his/her own way.

Sometimes it works, sometimes it fails.  But as long as it doesn’t end up like the cover that Fergie did of the cover Guns & Roses did of the James Bond theme Live and Let Die, I think we’ll be ok.

10 Cover Songs Performed In Unusual Ways

For years I really didn’t bother paying attention to the political process other than to know who were my choices when it came down to it in choosing a president.  Now that I’m a bit older and bit more mature (but not by much) I find myself completely drawn to this election.

What I mean by that is that it seems for the first time I actually give a damn about who it is  I want sitting in that chair in the White House, making the decisions for years to come.  I will say that I find it fascinating when you have a candidate that will come out one day saying that they’re in this race for the long haul (*cough Romney, Edwards, and Giuliani cough*) and then the next moment they realize that they can’t win they say that they’re stepping aside for the good of they’re respected parties.

In any event I feel that this election is going to be one of the most important elections our country has every had in the sense that for the first time we legitimately have a chance to put either a woman or a black man in office.  Hell we might even do both.  So with all this crazy election stuff going on I see no reason why our BOM shouldn’t have something to do with it.
