Artists You Should Know: Jo Chen
So while looking around on myspace the other day, I happened upon Ms. Chen’s profile listed on another one that showcases creative profile designs. After looking at some of the art that she’s done it was cool to learn the identity behind some kick-ass artwork that I’d seen around before, but wasn’t aware of who the artist was.

Jo Chen is a comic book artist.
Chen was born in Taipei, Taiwan and emigrated to the United States in late 1994. Working professionally in the Asian comic book industry since age fourteen, she burst suddenly onto the U.S. comic book scene with her art work for the Racer X mini-series, part of the Speed Racer series published by Wildstorm/D.C. Comics in 2000.
She quickly established herself producing interiors and covers for titles including Darkminds Macropolis, Battle of the Planets, Robotech, Fight For Tomorrow, Taskmaster, The Demon, Thor, and (Batman &) Robin. Currently she is most well known to American comic readers as the cover artist of Runaways.

Mr. Despain was born in 1971 and says in his bio that he was a into creating art when he was a child. As an adult he has done a bit of everything--graphic design, comic book art and has done a lot of work for the collectible card game "Magic: The Gathering".
